Every Friday, we’re answering your questions about business, startups, customer success and more.
Happy Friday!
This week’s question comes from Jim S., who asks:
This is something that we’ve absolutely been through.
It’s demoralizing, and it sucks.
When you think you’ve tried everything, but can’t seem to move the needle any further, it’s easy to get into the mindset of “well, I guess that’s as good as we’re going to do.”
But every single time we’ve fallen into that rut, we’ve escaped.
In the three most painful times, these are the things that got us out:
- Spending more time promoting our content. This has been so, so, so much more valuable for us than just producing more content. Here’s how we do it. Doubling down on promotion always increases results.
- Guest posting on high-traffic blogs. This exposes you to much wider audiences, and you’ll see results pretty quickly if you do it regularly. Shoot for one super-high-quality guest post a week, even if it means one fewer post on your own blog. And spend time promoting it, too.
- When we hit (what we thought was) a traffic ceiling, we started to dig in a bit more into SEO (more on that here). If you’re tapping out promotion and production time, then this is definitely worth considering if you’re not already.
I’d love to hear what others have done in this position to get the needle moving again.
